Family Therapy

Family Therapy can help you reconnect with your loved ones and understand each other better.

Families can be chaotic, stressful, messy, but are also beautiful. Each family has a unique story, but sometimes we get stuck in hurtful, negative patterns that cause disconnection and isolation. We often take out our stress and anger on the people we love the most. Everyone has a different opinion and it is hard to see things from someone else’s perspective, especially if you are feeling hurt. In times of stress and grief, family conflicts increase with no resolution in sight.

It is time to rewrite the narrative, create healthier patterns, and start enjoying family time.

How can Family Therapy help?

Family therapy can help you learn to understand one another and develop healthier patterns of communication. You will gain perspective into your family members’ needs and how they are feeling, so that everyone feels supported and appreciated.

Whether you are navigating a new blended family, going through a divorce, experiencing a loss, managing various mental health needs, struggling with addiction, or going through a life transition, family stress can feel overwhelming. Whatever the challenge, you deserve to be heard and supported by your family.

In family therapy, we will work together to find the root of the conflict, understand one another, build attachment, and move forward together.

I use a systems approach, where I view family problems as part of a larger system. It is not about pointing fingers and placing blame on certain individuals, but rather evaluating how the family functions as a whole, encouraging each person to create positive changes to improve the family dynamics.

What do sessions look like?

I rely on Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy, an evidence based practice, along with Dance/movement Therapy and other creative interventions. I gather background information and learn about history of attachment, trauma, and family patterns. Using movement, art, mindfulness, breathing and talk therapy, we will identify and overcome obstacles that have kept your family from moving forward and create healthier relationships through positive interactions.

I encourage each family member to express their feelings and needs, fostering a safe space where you will feel understood and supported.

I also offer parent coaching sessions, where we work on developing family routines that build trust and effective communication.

What if my family members are not willing to participate?

I understand that family therapy might not be for everyone and we can begin with the members who are interested in participating. I am flexible and also offer individual therapy for children, teens, and parents and additionally can work with grandparents, a parent/child dyad, siblings, or any other combination that could be most helpful for your family.

How do I get started?

The first step is calling for a free 15 minute consultation to see if I am the right fit for your family.
