During the adolescent years, your child is rapidly growing and changing physically, emotionally and cognitively. They might experience frequent mood swings, depression, anxiety, irritability, low motivation and increase of stress. Their bodies are also growing and changing during this time and cognitively, they are beginning to think in more abstract and hypothetical ways.
Within this time, they begin to search for their sense of self and personal identity by exploring beliefs, values, and goals. They are becoming more independent in the home, school, and in their relationships, but they still have a lot of growing up to do. They are betwixt and between and there is a lot to manage!
Therapy can help your adolescent explore their identity, learn ways to manage their stress and frequently shifting emotions, motivate them to accomplish personal goals, help them feel comfortable with their changing appearance, and feel good about themselves inside and out.
