Dahlia Rifkin, MA, LPC, BC-DMT

Hi, I’m Dahlia! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist specializing in helping children, teens, families, and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and family conflict. I’m trained in Eco-Systemic Family Therapy and use a trauma-informed approach that addresses collective and generational trauma within the family. I’m also EMDR certified and use this approach to help individuals process previous traumas or negative life events. My interventions include reframing unhealthy narratives, physical movement techniques, breathing, mindfulness activities, and other creative interventions. I focus on strengths to help clients boost their confidence and empower individuals and families to establish better ways of communicating and interacting.

I’m a faculty member at the Ferentz Institute, where I lead workshops on creative movement interventions for families who have experienced trauma. I have presented at the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, the Expressive Therapies Summit, and the American Dance/Movement Therapy Conference.

I am an expert in helping families navigate stress from natural disasters. My book, Rebuilding Hope Through Movement, explores creative interventions for children and communities who have experienced community disasters.

My style is warm, open, fun, creative, strength-based and non-judgmental. I believe in working collaboratively to accomplish goals and move your family forward. When I’m not in sessions, I enjoy traveling, teaching Zumba, listening to broadway music, and spending time with my family. Reach out for a free consultation to see if we are a good fit.
