Child & Adolescent Therapy

Your child or teen can manage their big emotions, learn coping skills, get support, begin to heal from traumatic experiences, and feel good about themselves again.

Does it seem like your child or teen explodes for no reason? Maybe they feel anxious and worried which prevents them from seeing friends, succeeding in school, and just being a kid. Have you noticed that they are more withdrawn, lonely, or depressed and have trouble managing their big feelings? Perhaps there has been a recent traumatic event that the whole family is still processing. You try and listen and offer support but it doesn’t seem to help.

You just want your child to be HEALTHY, ENJOY their life and be a KID.

Child Therapy

Ages 5-12

At this age, your child is learning a lot of new skills like reading, writing, and gaining competency in school and extra curricular activities. With all this pressure to succeed and show competency, life can feel scary, sad, frustrating, and overwhelming. If you have noticed that your child has big feelings, acts out, has trouble listening or making friends, worries a lot, or seems sad and withdrawn, therapy can help!

Therapy can help your child understand and regulate their feelings, learn coping skills to manage frustration, gain confidence in themselves, and practice strategies for handling challenges. I will work with your child to help them feel better and just enjoy being a kid. Together we will explore their feelings and life stressors with art, music, dance, and play. These creative mediums help your child better express themselves while boosting self-esteem.

Adolescent Therapy

Ages

13-21

During the adolescent years, your child is rapidly growing and changing physically, emotionally and cognitively. They might experience frequent mood swings, depression, anxiety, irritability, low motivation and increase of stress. Their bodies are also growing and changing during this time and cognitively, they are beginning to think in more abstract and hypothetical ways.

Within this time, they begin to search for their sense of self and personal identity by exploring beliefs, values, and goals. They are becoming more independent in the home, school, and in their relationships, but they still have a lot of growing up to do. They are betwixt and between and there is a lot to manage!

Therapy can help your adolescent explore their identity, learn ways to manage their stress and frequently shifting emotions, motivate them to accomplish personal goals, help them feel comfortable with their changing appearance, and feel good about themselves inside and out.
